Peter Whitman

Specializes in the development of large energy modeling systems and policy analysis in the power and petroleum markets.

Dr. Whitman has nearly 30 years of experience in the energy analysis and policy fields. His primary focus has been in the development of large energy modeling systems and policy analysis in the power and petroleum markets. He has extensive experience in the development of EIA’s National Energy Modeling System (NEMS), including the electricity, coal, and biofuels sectors.

Prior to joining OnLocation in 2021, Dr. Whitman was an Operations Research analyst in the Office of Energy Policy & Innovation of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, where he specialized in price formation issues. He holds a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Maryland, College Park.
